* Mediapro has outbid Vivendi SA unit Canal Plus Group SA 's Canal+ for the 2020-2024 audiovisual rights for Ligue 1, the premier French soccer league. The Spanish broadcaster, majority-owned by Chinese private equity firm Orient Hontai Capital, bagged most of the broadcast packages offered by the soccer league.

* In other Mediapro news, the company will live stream Brazil's Campeonato Brasileño de Serie A soccer tournament via a dedicated YouTube channel in 27 territories across Europe, Asia and Oceania, under a partnership with Alphabet Inc. unit Google Inc., Digital TV Europe reported May 21, citing a statement.

* Telecom giant Telefónica SA struck a global partnership with Netflix Inc. to integrate the streaming service into its TV and video platforms in Europe and Latin America. Netflix will be made available to Telefónica customers in Spain by the end of 2018, while the first launches in the LatAm region will be unveiled in the coming weeks.

* Mediaset SpA unit Mediaset España is expanding its coverage of the World Cup in Russia, Rapid TV News reported June 6. The broadcaster will bring its coverage to a dedicated hybrid broadcast broadband TV app for smart TV units and a live channel on its over-the-top service Mitele.es.

* Sky Italia SRL rolled out its 15-channel terrestrial TV service under its partnership with Mediaset, Broadband TV News reported June 6. The Sky PLC unit's new TV offer is made up of two packages, one of which includes a mix of Sky and Mediaset channels.

* Spanish thematic 4K TV channel All Flamenco is eyeing future expansion into Europe, America and Asia through pay TV platforms, Advanced Television reported June 4. The channel, currently available via Orange España and other cable networks, is also seeking carriage deals with Vodafone España SAU and Telefónica SA's Movistar Plus.

* Portuguese public broadcaster RTP and NOS SGPS. SA agreed to broadcast the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Russia in 4K resolution via a dedicated channel dubbed RTP 4, Advanced Television reported May 31.

* Mediapro is set to launch a dedicated channel for the La Ligue 1 soccer games in France, after the Spanish broadcaster bagged the TV rights to the tournament, Advanced Television reported May 31.

* AMC International Southern Europe will broadcast VR content on its documentary channel Odisea under an agreement with Dutch company Rooftop Immersive Studio, Digital TV Europe reported May 30. Rooftop Immersive Studio will be aggregating aggregate factual-based VR content for the AMC Networks Inc. unit as part of the deal.

* Eleven Sports Network Ltd. announced May 29 that it has clinched a three-year deal to exclusively air live broadcasts of all matches of the UEFA Champions League and LaLiga Santander in Portugal. The agreement will cover seasons from 2018-19 to 2020-21.

* Telefónica rolled out a 4K set-top box for its pay TV platform Movistar Plus, but without any 4K content available via the platform, Advanced Television reported May 22. The device, which can be connected via Wi-Fi with no cables, enables access to Movistar Plus on multiple set-top boxes at home.

* Hybrid broadcast broadband TV service LOVEStv, jointly created by Spanish public broadcaster RTVE, Atresmedia and Mediaset España, will go live June 14, Advanced Television reported May 18.

* Greek pay TV operator Nova has renewed its content deal with Time Warner Inc.'s HBO, giving the Forthnet SA unit access to HBO's series and films, Broadband TV News reported May 15. The content will be accessible on Novacinema channels and on Nova On Demand and Nova Go services.
