Eastern Goldfields Ltd. said Dec. 15 that it has upgraded its gold mineral resource and associated ore reserve in its Missouri deposit, about 80 kilometers northwest of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.
After a recently concluded drilling program, Eastern Goldfields reported a total resource of 2.43 million tonnes grading 2.9 g/t of gold for 227,000 ounces at a 1 g/t of gold cut-off. This compares to a December 2007 total resource estimate of 1.84 million tonnes grading 2.1 g/t of gold for 123,000 ounces, representing an 85% increase in contained gold ounces.
A mining study at the deposit also defined a probable ore reserve of 1.21 million tonnes grading 2.2 g/t of gold for 85,000 ounces.
Eastern Goldfields plans to continue exploration at depth and will evaluate the underground mining potential of the Missouri deposit.
