The just-ended quarter was a busy one for private equityinvestments in the media and communications space; over 70% of 2016’s aggregateprivate equity deal value came in the third quarter.
So far for the year, aggregate deal value grew to $18.37billion, more than double that of the $8.92 billion aggregate deal value forthe first three quarters of 2015, according to SNL Kagan data.
Apollo GlobalManagement LLC’s deal to take Rackspace Hosting Inc. private topped the list of the largest PEdeals by deal amount in the media and communications space in 2016 with a valueof $4.16 billion. Apollo Global Management also made another large splash inthe sector during the third quarter via a deal in which it took Redbox-parentOuterwall Inc.private for $1.53 billion.
The acquisition of Ultimate Fighting Championship Ltd. inthe third quarter by an investor group that included , and WilliamMorris Endeavor represented the second-largest private equity deal by dealamount in the sector with a value of $4.0 billion.
