NomuraHoldings Inc. plans to eliminate jobs in the Americas and Europe asthe Japanese brokerage struggles to turn around its overseas operations, The Wall Street Journal reported April11, citing "people familiar with the matter."
The exact magnitude of job cuts, which may get underway asearly as in the coming days, is not known yet.
A London-based Nomura spokesman declined to comment to thepublication.
Nomura had 2,501 staff in the Americas and 3,433 in Europeas of Dec. 31, 2015, according to the report.
The company's Americas operations span the U.S., Brazil,Colombia and Canada. In the U.S., Nomura has reported pretax losses for sixstraight quarters.
