Generali to sell businesses in Guatemala, Liechtenstein

Generali agreed to sell its units in Guatemala andLiechtenstein for an undisclosed sum as part of a strategy to focus on morepromising and less capital-intensive businesses.

In Guatemala, Generali will sell its entire 51% stake inAseguradora Generali SA, which is primarily active in the P&C segment, toits local partners, who Generali did not name in its Sept. 28 statement.

In Liechtenstein, the group signed an agreement for the saleof 100% of Fortuna Lebens-Versicherungs AG, a life insurance company in run-offsince 2015, to Munich-based financial services firm FWU AG.

Both transactions are subject to regulatory approvals.
