Facebook Inc.'s Oculus VR LLC unit unveiled the new Oculus Rift S virtual reality headset March 20 at the annual Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.
The Oculus Rift S replaces the original Rift with an upgraded higher resolution display; improved optics; and Passthrough+, a feature designed to minimize disruption when looking outside the virtual-reality play space, according to a company blog post. The headset works with the Rift platform, giving users access to VR titles and games.
Oculus co-designed the headset with Lenovo Group Ltd.
Oculus Rift S will launch in the spring and will be priced at $399.
