Azure Minerals Ltd. said Aug. 15 that it acquired the advanced-stage Oposura zinc-lead-silver project in Sonora, Mexico, covering 690 hectares, from Grupo Minero Puma for US$1.5 million in cash and the granting of a 2.5% net smelter royalty.
The company said that prior drilling and exploratory underground mine development defined extensive zones of massive sulfide-hosted zinc-lead-silver mineralization, which is accessible through existing mine workings.
A work program on the mine has commenced, which includes a planned close-spaced and exploration drilling program in order to estimate mineral resources and identify extensions and repetitions of mineralized zones, respectively.
The acquisition is part of the company's objective to acquire advanced early stage projects in Mexico.
