Ameresco breaks ground on 6-MW gas project in Pennsylvania

Ameresco Inc. announced Aug. 4 that it broke ground on a 6-MW natural gas-fired peaking plant in partnership with PIDC, a public-private economic development corporation, at the Navy Yard in Philadelphia.

The facility will serve as the anchor of one of the largest microgrids in the U.S., according to a news release, and will participate in the PJM Ancillary Service market.

The plant is expected to begin operations later this year.
