Credicorp to pay special cash dividend in US dollars

Credicorp Ltd. said its board approved a special cash dividend of about 755.1 million Peruvian soles, equivalent to 8.00 soles per share.

The dividend will be paid in U.S. dollars on Nov. 22 to shareholders of record as of Oct. 23, according to a press release.

"The board's decision to approve the distribution of a special dividend is based on Credicorp's financial strength and the significant solvency position it has built in recent years," the company said.

The distribution will be made using cash in hand and will be applied on Credicorp's retained earnings and, to a lesser extent, to freely available optional reserves.

Credicorp, which operates in Peru through banking unit Banco de Crédito del Perú, saw its attributable second-quarter profit jump 12.3% year over year to about 1.10 billion soles.

As of Sept. 25, US$1 was equivalent to 3.35 Peruvian soles.
