Altius Minerals Corp. intends to co-found, along with strategic investors, a new company to focus on zinc projects.

The new company, Adventus Zinc Corp., will file a preliminary prospectus in connection with an IPO in the near future.

Altius will provide part of the pre-IPO seed capital funding as well as a portfolio of zinc exploration projects in Ireland and Eastern Canada, according to its Dec. 13 statement.

Adventus Zinc will also work to acquire advanced zinc projects that range from the resource delineation stage through to the feasibility stage.

Christian Kargl-Simard, who has 13 years of experience in the mining industry, was appointed president and CEO of Adventus Zinc.
