Fifth Third appoints market prez; Rockland Trust EVP no longer with bank

S&P Global Market Intelligence presents a daily roundup of management and board changes in the bank and thrift industry. This feature excludes C-level leadership changes and stories previously covered by S&P Global Market Intelligence.

* Fifth Third Bancorp hired Joseph Yurosek as market president who will serve California-based middle-market companies.

Yurosek joins Fifth Third from Comerica Inc., where he served as market president for the Orange County region.

* The Triangle Business Journal of Raleigh, N.C., reported the promotion of Sam Sugg to Raleigh market president at Wells Fargo & Co.

Sugg, senior vice president and wealth adviser, succeeds Denise Bennett. Bennett will keep on serving the market as business development officer with the business banking team in Raleigh.

The new role of Sugg — who has been with the bank since 1991 — is a separate one from Mike Golden's, according to the report. Golden is the new Triangle region bank president.

* Effective as of Nov. 30, Rockland Trust Co. Executive Vice President of Consumer and Business Banking Pamela Frey is no longer an employee of the Rockland, Mass.-based bank, a unit of Independent Bank Corp.

Robert Cozzone, the CFO of the company and the bank, will now oversee consumer and business banking. His new title is CFO and executive vice president of consumer and business banking. The bank has also re-allocated certain other duties and responsibilities of Cozzone and Frey to other members of management.
