Nuclear update: Total availability rebounds as 3 units increase output

Total U.S. nuclear plant availability took a few steps forward early Feb. 14 to 96.90%, up from 96.26% on Feb. 13 and above the 92.68% reported on the same day a year ago.

Giving a boost to total output was increased production at three reactors. Riverstone Holdings LLC's Susquehanna 2 in Pennsylvania and Southern Co.'s Hatch 2 in Georgia were both operating at 100% power early Feb. 14, each up from prior-day levels of 79% and 68%, respectively. Entergy Corp.'s Grand Gulf 1 in Mississippi saw production rise from 63% on Feb. 13 to 83% early Feb. 14.

Entergy's River Bend 1 in Louisiana saw output fall from 85% on Feb. 13 to 65% early Feb. 14.
