Octopus Renewables, part of Octopus Investments Ltd., won a new corporate pension mandate with the National Grid UK Pension Scheme, to invest £185 million in U.K. solar and onshore wind assets.
The fund, named Renewable Energy Income Partnership III, is Octopus' third institutional mandate for renewable energy infrastructure in a little over two years.
"With predictable income, diversification and sustainable investment all at the forefront of institutional investors' minds, this commitment by [National Grid UK Pension Scheme] shows that our Renewable Energy Income Partnership series continues to provide an attractive solution for investors," said Alex Brierley, co-head of Octopus Renewables, in a Jan. 9 release.
Octopus Renewables is one of the largest renewable energy investors in Europe with over £3.2 billion of energy assets under management and is among the first investors to invest in unsubsidized capacity.
