Major solar power project in Poland set to finalize by mid-2020

Energy and Infrastructure SME Fund, managed by Lords LB Asset Management, UAB, is set to finalize one of the biggest solar power projects in Poland by mid-2020.

The project, being developed by Sun Investment Group, is set to include up to 66 solar power parks with an installed capacity of up to 1 MW each, totaling at least 65.5 MW.

This will constitute a significant increase in Poland's installed solar capacity, which stands at around 1,300 MW, according to a Jan. 20 news release.

The construction of most of the sites is already underway. The first 10 parks were connected to the grid in November 2019 and some have already started generating electricity.

The project involves the installation of 240,000 individual solar panels across approximately 120 hectares of land in north-western Poland. Two electricity distribution operators and five of their regional branches will handle the distribution of power.

All the plants under development were awarded 15-year fixed-price electricity contracts in Poland's renewable energy auction in 2018.
