Amedisys Inc. is acquiring privately held hospice care provider Compassionate Care Hospice Of Central New Jersey LLC in a $340 million deal.

The deal value includes $50 million in payments related to a tax asset and working capital.

Parsippany, N.J.-based Compassionate Care Hospice provides hospice services in 24 states and generates about $188 million in annual revenues, with an adjusted EBITDA of $27 million, Amedisys said in a press release.

Amedisys said the acquisition will make the company the third largest hospice provider in the U.S. with combined hospice operations of 136 care centers in 34 states.

The deal is expected to close by Feb. 1, 2019, subject to customary closing conditions.
