New Jersey-based Lakeland Bank attracts former Sussex Bank chief credit officer

Lakeland Bank,a unit of Lakeland Bancorp Inc.,appointed Mary Karakos to serve in the newly created role of commercial loan chiefadministrative officer.

Karakos joined the bank in 1992, and most recently served assenior vice president and team leader of the lending team in Sussex County, N.J.,according to a July 21 news release.

The Oak Ridge, N.J.-based bank also named Jeffrey Wichman seniorvice president and credit manager, NeillSchreyer senior vice president and asset recovery manager, and SusanSmith senior vice president and credit administration manager in the credit department.

Wichman joined the bank in 2013 as vice president and commercialreal estate loan officer for its commercial lending team in Bernardsville, N.J.Schreyer previously served as executive vice president and chief credit officerat Rockaway, N.J.-based Sussex Bancorpunit Sussex Bank, whileSmith served as vice president and credit adviser at HSBC Holdings Plc's HSBC Private Bank in New York.
