Foreign direct investment into China rises 8% in September

Foreign direct investment into China increased by 8% year over year to 76.27 billion yuan in September, the country's Ministry of Commerce said.

A total of 4,591 foreign-invested enterprises were formed in September, an increase of 45.7% on a year-over-year basis.

In the first nine months of 2018, foreign direct investment increased by 2.9% year over year to 636.7 billion yuan. The number of newly formed foreign-invested enterprises rose by 95.1% from a year earlier to 45,922 in the period.

Foreign direct investment from the U.S. was up by 6.7% year over year in the first nine months.

As of Oct. 17, US$1 was equivalent to 6.93 Chinese yuan.
