New Jersey-based Northfield Bancorp ups dividend

The board ofWoodbridge, N.J.-based NorthfieldBancorp Inc. declared a quarterly cash dividend of 8 cents per share,up from the previous quarter's payout of 7 cents per share.

According toan earnings release, the dividend will be payable May 25 to shareholders of recordas of May 11.

The company reported first-quarter net income of $3.7 million,or 8 cents per share, compared to $5.0 million, or 11 cents per share, in the year-agoperiod.
