ND oil, gas production increase in October

North Dakota gas and oil production climbed in October as 2,011 wells sat idle.

The state's gas wells produced 63.92 Bcf in the month, or 2.06 Bcf/d, according to preliminary figures released by the Industrial Commission. That was up from September's adjusted total of 58.35 Bcf, or 1.95 Bcf/d.

Oil production came in at 36.75 million barrels, or 1.19 MMbbl/d. For September, adjusted oil production was 33.22 MMbbl, or 1.11 MMbbl/d.

North Dakota's leading gas-producing county in October was McKenzie, with 32.26 Bcf. Williams County was No. 2, at 11.77 Bcf. McKenzie was also the top oil producer in for the month, with 14.71 MMbbl produced. Coming in second was Dunn, with 6.89 MMbbl.

Of the 16,261 wells capable of production, 14,250 were in use in October.
