Panama-based Grupo ASSA SA said it completed the acquisition of both AIG Seguros Guatemala and Honduras unit AIG Honduras.

In a Jan. 19 statement, the group said the acquired companies are now under the umbrella of ASSA Compania Tenedora SA until the correspondent authorities in Guatemala and Honduras approve their name changes and the replacement of the AIG brand to ASSA.

The transactions complete Grupo ASSA's October 2015 deal to acquire 100% of American International Group Inc.'s units in Central America. The company closed on the acquisitions of AIG's operations in Panama and El Salvador in the second half of 2016.
