LNGLtd. subsidiary Bear Head LNG Corp. has reached an agreement to buymore land from Nova ScotiaBusiness Inc. so it can expand its in Richmond County,Nova Scotia, according to a March 29 news release.
Under the agreement, Bear Head LNG will add 72 acresof land adjacent to its existing 255-acre site on the Strait of Canso,according to the release.
The proposed expansion is expected to boost capacityfrom 8 million tonnes per annum to 12 Mtpa in 2024, a plan that has beenapproved by Canada's National Energy Board, Bear Head LNG President MauriceBrand said in the release. With the recent non-FTA trade authorization, all initial federal,provincial and municipal regulatory approvals required to start withconstruction have been obtained.
"This agreement between Bear Head LNG and NSBI isimportant for future development and planning, thus facilitating economicgrowth and job creation in the Strait region," Brand said.
The company has also opened an office in Halifax in aneffort to expand its presence in Nova Scotia, according to the release.
