Standard Chartered Bank (China) gets underwriting license for Panda bonds

Standard Chartered Bank (China) Ltd. obtained a lead underwriting license for nonfinancial corporate Panda bonds.

The bank said Jan. 31 that it received the license from China's National Association of Financial Market Institutional Investors. A Panda bond is a yuan-denominated bond issued in China by a foreign incorporated issuer.

The bank will use the license to bring in high-quality issuers and overseas investment into the China interbank bond market, said Wesley Yang, the bank's head of financial market.
