K92 Mining starts gold production from Kainantu mine's Irumafimpa deposit

K92 Mining Inc. said Oct. 5 that gold production is underway from the Irumafimpa deposit at its Kainantu gold mine in Papua New Guinea, with concentrate shipment deliveries expected to start in November.

The company's mill treated the first batch of underground ore delivered from the deposit and has produced the first concentrate from Irumafimpa ore. Gold production is anticipated to ramp up steadily and reach a production rate of 52,000 ounces of gold per year over the coming months.

According to K92 Mining, rehabilitation of the Irumafimpa gold mine, the process plant and associated infrastructure is complete, while the installation of a new drum scrubber at the processing facility is also nearing completion and is expected to finish commissioning by the end of the month.

The miner also improved the existing underground mobile plant fleet and is looking to evaluate and advance production expansion opportunities within the project's mining lease, including the Kora gold prospect.

K92 Mining signed a three-year concentrate off-take deal with Interalloys Trading Ltd. in June over production from Kainantu operations.
