Apple isreportedly trying to corner the budget-conscious market in India with theproposal, which is heavily opposed by the iPhone maker's rivals.
The Indiangovernment is advocating for local manufacturing via its Make-in-India program.
Anotherproposal to open Apple retails stores in India is currently pending decision,according to the report.
Applereportedly declined to comment on the matter.
