Intesa Sanpaolo makes management changes ahead of new business plan

Intesa Sanpaolo SpA's head of human resources, Rosario Strano, will succeed Eliano Lodesani as COO, the bank said Dec. 28.

The bank will propose to name Lodesani chairman of the board of directors at Intesa Sanpaolo Group Services, a consortium serving the group.

Eugenio Rossetti, the group's chief lending officer, will leave the post after 35 years with the bank. The vacancy created by his departure will be filled by Marco Rottigni, head of the global corporate department within the bank's corporate & investment banking division. Rossetti will continue to hold some corporate offices within the group.

The bank also named Alfonso Guido chief cost management officer, among other changes announced as part of the formation of a new organization structure. Chief Innovation Officer Maurizio Montagnese will be nominated to chair the board of a new company to be established to enhance innovation activities outside the group, including through partnerships with agencies and institutions.

Massimo Proverbio will become chief IT, digital and innovation officer, a newly formed governance area. Silvio Fraternali, head of integrated operating strategies at Intesa Sanpaolo Group Services, will become CEO of Banca 5 SpA.

The appointments, which will take effect Jan. 1, 2018, come ahead of a business strategy the bank aims to announce in the first quarter of 2018, with a focus on insurance and wealth management.
