BNP Paribas' Belgian unit names COO

BNP Paribas SA unit BNP Paribas Fortis SA named Daniel de Clerck as its new COO and chairman of the Works Council, replacing Filip Dierckx.

De Clerck, currently head of exchange-to-exchange operations at the bank, will join the company's executive board and report to CEO Max Jadot, subject to shareholders approval. Dierckx will serve as a nonexecutive director on the company's board.

Khatleen Pauwels, in charge of exchange-to-exchange operations customers and accounts, will take over from de Clerck as the head of exchange-to-exchange operations and join the bank's executive committee.

The changes will take effect Jan. 1, 2020.

Additionally, finance head Franciane Rays will be responsible for the firm's asset liability management and treasury department as well as the tax and economic research department. He will report directly to the CEO, who will chair the asset liability management committee. The bank's CFO will serve as the vice chair on the committee.
