Ionis Pharmaceuticals Inc. appointed Damien McDevitt as chief business officer.

The Carlsbad, Calif.-based biotechnology company said McDevitt previously served as senior vice president of corporate development at ACADIA Pharmaceuticals Inc.

Prior to joining ACADIA, McDevitt worked at GlaxoSmithKline PLC in several roles for more than 20 years.
