Canyon receives 3 permits for Minim Martap bauxite project in Cameroon

Canyon Resources Ltd. was granted three exploration permits comprising its Minim Martap bauxite project in Cameroon.

The Minim Martap project, located alongside the Birsok bauxite project, covers the Ngouandal and Minim Martap deposits.

The permits are valid for three years and cover 1,349 square kilometers in total, the company said Aug. 9.

According to a 2009 estimate, Minim Martap hosts a JORC 2004-compliant resource of 550 million tonnes at an average grade of 45.5% aluminum oxide and 2.06% silicon dioxide.

The company plans to use the results of previous work, in addition to further assessment activities if required, to upgrade the defined resource to JORC 2012-compliant standards this year.
