Ameren, subsidiaries file automatic shelf

Ameren Corp. and its subsidiaries filed an automatic shelf registration statement for the potential sale of an unspecified amount of certain securities from time to time.

The Dec. 15 filing covers the sale of Ameren's senior and subordinated debt securities, common and preferred stocks, and stock purchase contracts and units, as well as Ameren Missouri and Ameren Illinois Co.'s senior secured debt securities, first mortgage bonds, senior unsecured debt securities and preferred stocks.

Net proceeds from any sale of securities will be used to finance Ameren subsidiaries' ongoing construction and maintenance programs, to meet debt obligations, to finance strategic investments and for other general corporate purposes.

Ameren Missouri is legally known as Union Electric Co.
