PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk is conducting an internal investigation into the alleged skimming of customer funds, The Jakarta Post reported March 14.
Unknown withdrawals were made from the bank's accounts in branches located in Kediri, East Java.
The state-owned lender's consumer director, Handayani, noted that preventive measures have been put in place, the publication reported, citing tempo.co.
"BRI is fully responsible for the losses suffered by the customers, as the investigation shows they were caused by skimming," Handayani said.
