Big Lots CEO takes medical leave after hospitalization

Big Lots Inc. on Dec. 4 said that CEO David Campisi took medical leave after being hospitalized following the U.S. retail company's third-quarter earnings call Dec. 1.

The company's board of directors have assigned Campisi's executive responsibilities to Chief Merchandising and Operating Officer Lisa Bachmann, and Chief Administrative and Chief Financial Officer Timothy Johnson.

James Chambers, nonexecutive chairman of the board, will spend more time in Big Lots' main office in Columbus, Ohio, during Campisi's medical leave.
