EDF Renewables, Alliant Energy sign deal for 200 MW of wind in Iowa

EDF Renewables signed a contract with Alliant Energy Corp. to develop and construct up to 200 MW of the Golden Plains Wind Project in Winnebago and Kossuth counties, Iowa.

Slated for completion by early 2020, the project is expected to generate enough power for 87,000 average homes per year. The project is also part of Alliant Energy's commitment to add 1,000 MW of wind power to Iowa by the end of 2020, according to a June 13 news release from both companies.

Alliant Energy, whose Iowa utility subsidiary is Interstate Power & Light Co., will acquire the wind project from EDF Renewables once it is completed.
