Samsung makes move in patent battle with Huawei

SamsungElectronics Co. Ltd. has filed a patent infringement lawsuitagainst Huawei Technologies Co.Ltd., months after the Chinese handsetmaker filed a patent suit of its own against Samsung, The Wall Street Journal reported July 22.

Samsung alleged in its lawsuit that certain Huaweismartphones infringed on six Samsung patents. The firm is seeking 161 million Chinese yuan in damages andwants the court to block the creation or sale of the devices by Huawei andBeijing Hengtongda Department Store Co.

A Huawei spokesman reportedly said the company has notreceived a formal complaint.

As of July 22, US$1was equivalent to 6.68 Chinese yuan.
