Nestlé Health Science, a subsidiary of Swiss food giant Nestlé SA, acquired a minority stake in U.S.-based childhood food allergy prevention business Before Brands Inc., according to a Sept. 26 release.
Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed, but Nestlé said the acquisition includes the exclusive licensing rights to Before Brands products outside the U.S.
In addition, the deal gives Nestlé an option to purchase all remaining shares in Before Brands in the future.
Before Brands specializes in early childhood allergy prevention through its SpoonfulOne brand, which is said to reduce food allergy development risk with 16 key allergens. Nestlé said allergy prevention is a new dimension for its growing health science business.
Meanwhile, Before Brands co-founder and CEO Ashley Dombkowski said Nestlé's expertise and global reach will allow them to accelerate education, commercialization, and distribution activities globally.
