The Western Australian Minister for Environment amended certain conditions in the state's Environmental Protection Authority's recommendation for the expansion of Toro Energy Ltd.'s Wiluna uranium mine in Western Australia.
The amendment was determined by appeals against the recommendation report, which will see the addition of a new condition related to the design and operation of the tailings storage facility.
Toro noted in a Dec. 15 news release that otherwise the appeals were dismissed.
The company will now complete the consultation process and seek authorities' approval for the implementation of the project, subject to the amended conditions.
EPA recommend the Wiluna expansion in September, subject to 18 strict conditions, including the monitoring and management of impacts on certain flora, heritage, vegetation and subterranean fauna.
