The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in the eurozone dipped to 7.4% in August from 7.5% in July, according to Eurostat.
This marked the lowest jobless rate in the region since May 2008. The consensus estimate of economists polled by Econoday was for a 7.5% print.
Germany's unemployment rate stood at 3.1% this month, the lowest among the eurozone's 19 member states.
