Progressive County Mutual Insurance Co. received approval for a 4.3% rate increase in Texas that could be the most significant commercial auto rate increase during the first six months of 2019, according to an S&P Global Market Intelligence analysis.
Four Progressive Corp. units received a sign-off on commercial auto rate hike requests that could lead to an aggregate premium increase of $23.3 million. The Texas filing alone would result in a $15.5 million total premium increase.
Progressive units also received nine rate decrease approvals across eight states that could reduce calculated commercial auto premiums by $2.8 million.
Berkshire Hathaway Inc. could see the largest overall written premium change in the U.S. Insurers owned by the group obtained 64 commercial auto rate hikes approvals across 28 states, equating to collective potential premium increases of $47.0 million.
