SoCalGas completes $83M infrastructure modernization project in Los Angeles

Southern California Gas Co. completed a three-year infrastructure modernization project in Los Angeles ahead of schedule, as part of its pipeline safety enhancement plan.

The $83 million project involved the installation of 3.4 miles of new natural gas pipeline in a section of Sepulveda Boulevard in Los Angeles, according to a Dec. 21 news release. With the project's completion, the Sempra Energy utility has installed 64 miles of new pipe in its service territory since the program began in 2013.

SoCalGas budgeted $6 billion for infrastructure investments, with $1.2 billion allocated for pipeline safety and distribution, transmission and storage system upgrades in 2017.
