Base ResourcesLtd. revised its production guidance for the current year to 82,000tonnes to 86,000 tonnes of rutile, 440,000 tonnes to 455,000 tonnes of ilmeniteand 29,000 tonnes to 31,000 tonnes of zircon from its Kwale mineral sands operations in Kenya.

The company said April 8 that it achieved record production inthe first quarter of 110,760 tonnes of ilmenite, 21,194 tonnes of rutile, and 7,865tonnes of zircon, compared to 105,753 tonnes of ilmenite, 16,754 tonnes of rutileand 5,414 tonnes of zircon a year ago.

Sales for the quarter totaled 95,984 tonnes of ilmenite, 14,500tonnes of rutile, and 9,556 tonnes of zircon, compared to 103,736 tonnes of ilmenite,15,168 tonnes of rutile and 5,178 tonnes of zircon in the prior-year quarter.

The previous productionguidance stood between 80,000 tonnes and 84,000 tonnes of rutile, 27,000tonnes and 30,000 tonnes of zircon and 430,000 tonnes and 450,000 tonnes of ilmenite.
