* Slovak Telekom rolled out Magio Kino, a Netflix Inc.-type platform that offers content from AXN Now, Viasat and kids channel Tuki TV to registered customers of the Magio TV service, Broadband TV News reported May 18, citing Medialne.

* Spanish producer and broadcaster Mediapro will livestream Brazil's Campeonato Brasileño de Serie A soccer tournament via a dedicated YouTube channel in 27 territories across Europe, Asia and Oceania, under a partnership with Alphabet Inc. unit Google Inc., Digital TV Europe reported May 21, citing a statement. In central and eastern Europe, the new YouTube service will be available in Belarus, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Romania, Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States, and Ukraine.

Content deals

* Bulgarian broadcaster BTV has acquired rights to "Hidden Truths," a series from Brazilian broadcaster Globo, Rapid TV News reported May 15. The series will be available on BTV's subscription video-on-demand platform bWeb.

* AMC Networks Inc.'s AMC Networks Central Europe sro has signed a deal with Prime Entertainment Group to acquire rights to air 38 titles in the latter's spring catalog, Rapid TV News reported May 13. Some of the series included in the deal are "Spotlight," "Close Up," "Hollywood's Best Film Directors" and "Mythical Movie Theatres."

Service launches

* Slovak transmission services provider Towercom as rolled out Otta, a new hybrid broadcast broadband TV platform, Digital TV Europe reported May 21. The new service offers a movie and TV series archive as well as seven-day catch-up TV and time-shift features.

* Slovak public broadcaster RTVS rolled out a hybrid broadcast broadband TV service for the ongoing Ice Hockey World Championship in Denmark, Broadband TV News reported May 7. The service, made in partnership with Towercom, enables viewers to watch the hockey matches via hokey.rtvs.sk.

* VEON Ltd., formerly VimpelCom, has upgraded Russian online TV service Beeline TV, Broadband TV News reported May 7. Among other new features, the updated service now enables users to rent or buy new movies or HD films produced by the likes of Walt Disney Co.'s Walt Disney Pictures, Paramount Pictures Corp. and 21st Century Fox Inc.'s Twentieth Century Fox Film Corp.

* Czech public broadcaster Ceska Televize selected SuperNetwork as its new partner to provide technology support for its online archive and streaming service iVysilani, Broadband TV News reported May 3, citing a statement.

* Polish pay TV operator nc+ added 22 more channels to its nc+ GO streaming service, including eight from Canal+, Broadband TV News reported April 30.

* The European Parliament, the Council of the European Union and the European Commission have reached a consensus on the revisions on the Audiovisual Media Services Directive, which will be implemented by audiovisual media companies in Europe, according to an April 26 news release. Part of the rules would require VOD platforms to put necessary measures against harmful content and to ensure that at least 30% of its catalog is European content.
