Goldcorp suspends Marlin mine ops after rock fall, worker trapped

Canadian producer GoldcorpInc. has halted operations at its Marlin mine in Guatemala following a rock fall that occurredearly on the morning of April 14, trapping one worker underground.

President and CEO David Garofalo said the same day that the companyis coordinating with first responders and the relevant authorities and will fullycooperate with the ongoing investigation to determine the cause of the accident.

"We are offering support to the individual's family andemployees at the mine site," he said. "The health and safety of our employeesis our highest priority."

Operations at the Marlin mine will remain suspended until authoritiescomplete their investigation.
