Malaysia's AirAsia Bhd. cut its order of A330neo planes from 34 to 12 and purchased 30 A321XLR aircraft from Airbus SE, according to a company press release.
AirAsia agreed to buy 34 A330neo planes from Airbus in 2018, but reduced its order to 12 after the company reviewed its flight requirements, Reuters said.
The A321XLR debut will allow the airline to explore opportunities for non-stop routes and respond to higher demand, according to the company report.
AirAsia and Airbus also signed an agreement to encourage new initiatives in the Malaysian airline industry.
