AEGON agrees to sell financial advisory group to Aon's Dutch unit

AEGON NV agreed to sell independent financial advisory group Unirobe Meeùs Groep BV to Aon Groep Nederland BV for €295 million, subject to works council advice and normal regulatory approvals.

The transaction, which reflects AEGON's strategic objective to optimize its portfolio across its businesses, is expected to result in an increase of its Solvency II capital of about €225 million, which will be retained by the Dutch insurer and is expected to improve the company's Solvency II ratio by an estimated 6 percentage points.

The sale, which is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter, will also lead to a book gain of about €180 million, which AEGON will report in "other income" at closing.

The transaction is expected to result in a decrease of about €20 million going forward in annual underlying pretax earnings, AEGON said Aug. 8.

Netherlands-based Unirobe Meeùs Groep provides independent advice and insurance products to about 580,000 retail and 75,000 wholesale customers.

Aon Groep Nederland is a subsidiary of Aon Plc.
