Shukra Jewellery fiscal Q2 profit climbs YOY

Shukra Jewellery Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Sept. 30 was 255,630 rupees, a gain from 73,750 rupees in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis.

The normalized profit margin climbed to 0.3% from 0.1% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue rose 15.2% year over year to 85.6 million rupees from 74.3 million rupees, and total operating expenses rose 14.9% from the prior-year period to 85.2 million rupees from 74.1 million rupees.

Reported net income grew from the prior-year period to 409,000 rupees, or 3 paise per share, from 118,000 rupees.

As of Oct. 30, US$1 was equivalent to 65.41 Indian rupees.
