Samsung SDI profit misses consensus by 32.3% in Q3

Samsung SDI Co. Ltd. said its third-quarter normalized net income amounted to 1,828.80 South Korean won per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 2,700.30 won per share.

EPS climbed 6,546.0% year over year from 27.52 won.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 122.31 billion won, a gain of 6,231.1% from 1.93 billion won in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin increased to 7.2% from 0.1% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue grew 32.4% on an annual basis to 1.708 trillion won from 1.290 trillion won, and total operating expenses climbed 17.7% from the prior-year period to 1.648 trillion won from 1.400 trillion won.

Reported net income came to 145.73 billion won, or 2,179.00 won per share, compared with a loss of 34.12 billion won, or a loss of 486.00 won per share, in the prior-year period.

As of Nov. 14, US$1 was equivalent to 1,114.97 South Korean won.
