Delta places order for 100 Airbus jets

Delta Air Lines Inc. said it has agreed with Airbus on a firm order for 100 A321neo aircraft and an optional order for 100 additional jets.

The company did not disclose the value of the deal when it made the announcement Dec. 14. The planes would be worth $12.7 billion at the list price of $127 million for an A321neo jet.

"This is the right transaction at the right time for our customers, our employees and our shareholders," said Delta CEO Ed Bastian.

Delta expects deliveries to begin in the first quarter of 2020 with new aircraft arriving through 2023.

The U.S. airline also said it is participating in more than $12 billion in airport infrastructure projects during the next decade in Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York-LaGuardia, Salt Lake City and Seattle.
