Fitch assigns rating to Brighthouse Financial after MetLife spinoff

Fitch Ratings assigned a BBB+ long-term issuer default rating to Brighthouse Financial Inc. after the completion of its spinoff from MetLife Inc.

The rating agency also affirmed the BBB+ issuer default rating of Brighthouse Holdings LLC and the A insurer financial strength ratings of Brighthouse Life Insurance Co. and New England Life Insurance Co.

The outlook is stable.

Brighthouse's ratings continue to reflect the company's very strong statutory capitalization, significant operating scale and strong risk-management capabilities, according to the rating agency.
