PJSC Alrosa's sales of rough and polished diamonds totaled US$3.36 billion in the January to September period, including US$3.29 billion of rough diamond sales and US$68.1 million of polished diamonds.
In September, the company sold US$309.7 million worth of rough and polished diamonds, including US$305.8 million of rough diamonds and US$3.9 million in polished diamonds.
Diamond sales in August totaled US$257.6 million, comprising US$255.7 million of rough diamonds and US$1.9 million of polished diamonds. Alrosa's sales in September last year totaled US$454 million.
The month-over-month increase in sales was mainly due to the bigger volume of sales of rough diamonds of over 10.8 carats at auctions, and some increase in sales on the spot market, the company said Oct. 10.
