Geely Automobile Holdings Ltd.-owned Volvo Car Corp. issued a recall of 6,223 imported cars sold in China due to defective engine cooling systems, Xinhua News Agency reported May 12, citing China's State Administration for Market Regulation.
Volvo's local dealer, Volvo Automobile Sales (Shanghai) Co. Ltd., will recall XC90 cars manufactured between Aug. 27, 2014, and April 24, 2016, the report said.
The affected cars were installed with faulty engine cooling systems that may leak, triggering a potential engine fire, the report added.
The carmaker will replace the defective components free of charge starting June 19, according to the news outlet.
