Maine OKs double-digit hikes for 2017 individual health plans

The Maine Bureau of Insurance has approved double-digit ratehikes for all individual health plans that will be offered in the state for2017.

The regulator approved average rate increases of 25.5% forMaine Community HealthOptions, 21.1% for Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Inc., 18% for and 11.2% forAetna Inc.

For small group plans, Aetna's preferred providerorganization plan secured approval for the highest average rate hike at 15.8%,the Portland Press Herald reported.The insurance regulator also approved average rate increases of 12.9% forAetna's health maintenance organization plan, 11% for Community Health, 8.1%for Anthem and 4.1% for UnitedHealthcare, according to the report.
